The Tennessee laws related to handguns and alcohol are found in TCA §39-17-1321.

  • Even if you have a Handgun Carry Permit, it is illegal to possess a handgun while you are under the influence of alcohol, any controlled substance, or any controlled substance analogue.
  • It is also illegal to possess a handgun if:
    • You are inside of an establishment that is open to the public and serves liquor, wine or other alcoholic beverages, or beer for consumption on the premises and…
    • You are consuming liquor, wine or other alcoholic beverages, or beer.
